He continued, “ I credit my personal development journey to Steve Millbank, Head of Leadership Development, CAKE People Development. I had been on management training programmes before and not gained anything from them, but when I attended the programme run by Steve about four years ago, my passion for learning, development and coaching was ignited. I continued to study despite the travelling I was then doing.”
In addition, Martin volunteered to help mentor a team of apprentices through the 2015 National Apprentice Competition sponsored by Cranfield University.
Not only did Martin coach the team to victory but he also followed this up with successes in 2016 and 2017 with different teams against industry giants such as Rolls Royce.
In April 2017 the possibility of transferring one of the existing engineering apprentices into the Design Office arose, and Martin has been fundamental in making this happen.
He has just completed his mentoring qualification so that he can assist this apprentice through the relevant NVQ Programme.
Martin always makes himself available should anyone (not just apprentices) need any help and has massively contributed to the continued success of the UCP Apprentice Programme.
We were thrilled to have awarded Martin this acolade. His work truly represents the aims of the award, to celebrate and reward outstanding achievement in coaching, honouring the valuable contribution coaching makes to individuals and to the culture and success of an organisation.
