The TJ Awards 2017

In December, the CAKE team along with clients and CAKE friends attended the TJ Awards. The Awards are now in their 11th  year, bigger and better than ever and are widely recognised as one of the most prestigious L & D awards’ programmes in the UK.

We were delighted to sponsor the Best Leadership Development Award. It demonstrates our commitment to excellence in Learning and Development; and once again, Margaret Burnside, Director of CAKE People Development was on the judging panel for the Learning Development Team of the year category.

The credibility and history of the awards mean that they attract a broad range of entries from a variety of organisations from FTSE 100 companies, charities and public sector organisations to higher education and consultancies.

The East of England Co-op Learning and Development Team were awarded Gold in the Best Learning and Development Team, judged by Margaret Burnside. They designed and delivering training for colleagues across the organisation ranging from food retail to stonemasonry. They were also runners-up for the best organisational development programme.

Stephen Flurrie, Head of L&D at the East of England Co-Op, said: “The team are absolutely over the moon to have won this award. Our aim is to reach colleagues with learning that helps them perform better in their jobs, understand the Co-Op difference and live our Co-Cp values; they do this every single day with creativity, passion and expertise.”

Margaret Burnside added “This small team is making a big difference to the East of England Co-op, creating a culture of learning and engagement with the business. The team demonstrates clear examples of creativity and innovation within a minimal budget along with inspirational
